iPod battery
March 22nd, 2005Out of curiosity and procrastination, I decided to test how long my 3rd Generation 40Gig iPod’s battery would last on a full charge yesterday. Playing the entire playlist on random with skipping every now and then for an audio book or a song that can now be listed as “I can’t believe I have ‘that’ in there”, it managed to play for 5 hours straight before shutting off.
According to this viral video from iPods dirty secret, the iPods battery last for 18 months, so I quickly find the receipt of when I got the iPod and as things turn out, its exactly to the date today 18 months ago that I got the thing.
Note: The iPod in the video is a 1st Generation iPod.
I can remember the batteries lasting for about 8/9 hours approx when it was new, less if the backlight was always turning on from navigating songs or using the menus. I think the reason why its still going pretty good is that I’ve been using it connected to the dock attached to the power source for half of those 18 months.
I wish they would integrate a radio tuner into the iPod. I once loaded an entire book into my iPod and read it all via its Notes tool, bloody hard on the eyes. Who wants to view photos on an iPod, the quality can’t be that great, give me a radio tuner!
