Mac OS X Tiger Goodies

April 26th, 2005

With the imminent release of Apples’ new operating system 10.4, codename Tiger, here’s some nice leaked goodness. The new intro video, and the hot as hell looking RSS Screensaver. I don’t think I will update to 10.4 right away, apart from the cool Dashboard feature, pretty much everything else is useless to me. 10.3.7 is running happily for me, so no need to mess with it.

    hello there, got tiger yet?

i just did a clean install of it on my g5 imac today.

dashboard and spotlight are flashy and cool, but the thing that really made me happy was the fact that it feels so cleanly programmed compared to 10.3.9.

its as if they have just had a team of grammers working on making the operating system as effecient as possible for the last 2years.

my mac now starts up in 29.5 seconds and shuts down fully in less than 5!

thats a good minute off the old OS.

    its just so zippy!

well worth the money, i got a student discount making it even more affordable, a treat for a successful semester :)

i would definetly reccomend the buy.

    but don’t upgrade.
back up all your old files and do an erase and install for optimised performance.

    happy mac.ing

    stephen.

No Tiger yet, the jury’s still out for me with Tiger, my system is running happily right now so I’m leaving it. I might get Tiger and install it on the Powerbook to play with though.

Wow 30 seconds start up time, nice.
    Thanks for the info mate.
