Shadow Paint
Saw the Archibalds finally, its so much better following the gallery guide around as you get to know a lot more of the back story behind each painting. I notice this really cool light and shadow effect on one of the many room separators, it reminds me of a modernist minimalist painting.

War of the Worlds
Saw this last Friday with Luca and Michelle. Spielberg made a good film, I can’t remember exactly how the booked panned out, having read it in high school, but the beginning of the film was really well done. I’m sure it was intentional to show how small man is by having Ray Ferrier working on an indstrial crane and having his home under the massve bridge overpass. It is a contrast of size that was used very effectively.

It was a bit slow in parts, and I wanted to see more tripod action destroying cities around the world.

I thought the scene with the people mobbing the car and Ray having to pull out his gun captured the worst side of human nature in times like that really well, to see people so desparate that they will kill for something useless in that situation. It turned human beings into animals, like rats escaping a sinking ship.

Loved the alien tripods, they were menacing and and cool at the same time.
