Air Jordan 5’s

Air Jordan 5
Back in high school, I was one of those kids who wore Dunlop shoes from K-Mart while the other kids had Reebok Pumps or Nike Airs (My brother eventually got me a pair of Nike Air Flights in year 11). I always wanted a pair of Air Jordans, Number 5 being my favourite, so imagine someone who had shoe envy in high school coming across an ebay store selling Jordan retro shoes and thats me. I got a pair and it came in the mail today, might go showpony it around the local bball courts later ( :

The Movie Pot

The Movie Ticket Pot
This is my movie pot, it was made in year 10 art class. There are 3 parts to this ugly thing… the big base is made from moulding flat clay around a mini basketball, the middle smaller shape is made by hand shaping and the top star part was made by loosely cutting out the shape. Small triangle shapes were then stuck on. Ceramic colouring was poured on and painted on. I gave my art teachers hell because it went against the coil technique which she was trying to teach us. Thinking back, I should’ve done a nice vase or something to hold flowers, now its just used to hold all my old movie and events ticket stubs. Here a running list of all the stuff I’ve seen over the years, give or take a few I’ve lost or thrown away.

Get Shorty

Friday, August 25th, 2006

Shorty, is a useful web application that sits on your server and is used for sending those long Amazon or ebay links to friends, family or clients in a shorter readable format instead of “www.domainame/clients/clientfolder/versionumber/testdesignv00d.jpg” Then again, its a bit annoying having to go to it and managing it all, even though it is hosted on your own server.

Jim Lee love and Comics

Jim Lee Sketch
Bought this new Jim Lee Sketch Book this week. And also buying all his latest work on Batman for DC. There was a time, maybe 14 years ago when comics were so massive, they held big conventions in Sydney for them. I recently recovered two big cardboard boxes full of comics that had been stored away under the house from about 10 years ago and seeing them all again brought back a lot of late teen memories of spending all my pocket money on the latest issue of X-Men and whatever Jim Lee was drawing at the time. Collecting comics back then was half speculative and half fanboy adoration, one half thought that all those comics would one day be worth a lot of money, the other half just loved the art. Today, its only about appreciating the artistic value when I buy a comic book, only if its drawn by Jim Lee though.

If you’re a Batman fan get the Batman Begins double DVD. Its got a bunch of behind the scenes stuff and interviews, it even has a whole segment about the Batman comics and Mr Lee is on their talking about the ground breaking work he’s currently doing, so cool.

My Dream App

My Dream App
This competition looks interesting, kinda like Idol meets Shareware Apps where everyone vies for the best submitted idea. I haven’t thought of one to enter yet. Thinking of the most useful shareware apps I’ve used over the years… Serial Box, Azureus… hehe Delicious Monster has been cool to use, I’ve been cataloging all my books, DVD’s and music.

Thredbo Snow
A light dusting of caster sugar and exposed pebbles in a dry creek of milk, the sorry state for this year’s snow season. I hope its not due to global warming. Images of arty fart shots and candid shots.

Apple Leopard

Apple Leopard
Watched the Apple WWDC 06 Keynote and some of the new features in Leopard are pretty cool, Time Machine looks awesome, however I’m one of those Mac users who like to know where “everything” is on their computer, so this auto back-up system looks great but depending on how much space and where it all gets stored, it might be more hassle than help. And what if you really wanted to delete those nude shots of yourself? Spaces look great too, ever since going back to using a single monitor, even though its 23 inches, I still find things a bit cluttered, so this feature would be like going back to dual monitors times 4. In the mean time, I found Virtual Desktops, which does a similar thing and You Control: Desktop

Up Late Annoyance

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2006

What the hell has happened to television? I was going to bed last night flicking through channels for something to watch but getting nothing back except for three stupid game shows offering people money to call in and play guessing games. The Up Late Game Show, Midnight Zoo and Quizmania. Each follows the same call now prompts, annoying hosts and prize money. The games themselves are either vague or dead easy. I’m not sure wether the hosts are reading off cue cards or making stuff up as they go, but one of the host on Quizmania last night had some very akward silences and only repeated jibberish.

The live update of the onscreen graphics is nice, I think channel 7’s Midnght Zoo had the best to offer with animated bits and pieces, they even went as far as decorating the sets and dressing the hosts. One thing that would benefit all this is the forgotten(?) iTV or interact TV that was supposed to be the next big thing on television in Australia maybe 5 years ago. Imagine using your remote to play games on your TV or playing along to game shows. I guess with these game shows, along with shows where you call in and vote are just money spinners cashing in on people’s phone calls. My solution to all this is the power button… give me back David Letterman!
