Papertainer Museum

Papertainer
Built with 353 giant paper tubes and 166 shipping containers, this museum in Korean is a work of art in itself. Most of the site is in Korean, but watching the construction video and viewing the images is enough to give you a sense of its distinctiveness. I wonder what happens when it rains?

Hyperactive and Amateur

Hyperactive and Amateur. Reminds me of Hexstatic’s Stylophonic. I wonder if there’s one with farting and belching sounds?

Awesome use of a white board for animating.

Laser Etched Laptop
I want a free MacBook Pro too, my G4 Powerbook is pretty much useless for work now, unless I boot up in OS 9, its good for watching movies and emailing still. How cool is the lasering process? If you’re in Sydney and want to get things lasered for a good price, give Vlad a call at P2020.

Colour Scheming

Colour Sprectrum
Third post about colour resources on the web. 1st and 2nd. Adobe Labs (seems like “labs” are becoming the new fad thing, everything to do with experimenting, testing and beta stuff) released Kula, sounds like color/cooler. I like Color Schemer Studio, it comes in a stand alone application and they also have an extensive gallery of schemes to download from.

The one thing that has always stuck with me about colour theory is that warm colours jump out at you and cooler colours recede back when view them next to each other, they almost vibrate, like how 3D glasses work. Lately I’ve been using a lot of black and white, mostly due to clients with cost/colour restrictions, most of the time, the resulting design looks better with no colour.

Song Meanings

I always miss the song meanings while losing myself in the melodies.

If you’re waiting on the world to change, don’t do nothing about it.

Human Footprint

Monday, November 6th, 2006

Every now and again, you see or hear something that makes you question humanity’s footprint on the world. Photographer Ed Burtynsky’s photographs and talk will do that to you.

Canon Find Your Shot

EOS 400D
Those new Canon Eos 400D cameras look pretty cool, they are digital SLR and priced at the lower end of the professional range of cameras. Canon are currently running a competition to promote this camera based around the campaign/theme, Find Your Shot. Here’s mine and Haline’s. Register, submit your own photos and vote.

Happy Rainbow Fete

Happy Rainbow Fete
My little cousin’s public school had a Happy Rainbow Fete today, she won a competition to come up with that name, I wonder if all year 6 kids think that cute. The highlight for us was the thong throwing contest, I came within a foot of winning a goody bag.
