Today Tonight
May 8th, 2007I just want to say that Today Tonight on channel 7 is a slurry of a show, their story tonight titled “Vietnamese Sting” targeting a dodgey Brisbane business man with a sweeping title like that is just stupid and wrong, bordering on racism. How can you generalise a whole community like that and focus on one person? It opens the doorway for misconceptions and I feel the behaviour of one man does not represent a whole community. I’m just offended. Investigate this man all they want and expose him, I’m not against that at all, dodgey people deserve the full force of the law onto them, don’t bring racial background into it. TT = Tabloid Trash.

I totally agree! In fact, I deliberately spent time searching for a blog entry about the “Vietnamese Sting” story of Today Tonight. Ah…Kevin is it? You must be Vietnamese too. ^^
Wow I just did a quick search and realised that…somebody even managed to set up a blog against the story: http://www.againstracist.blogspot.com/
(P.S. Also, random: Did you know that the man is northern Vietnamese?)

I don’t care wether his north or south, he could be anything, I”m just offended by the wrongness of the title. Haha, seems like other people are pissed off about it too.

Yes, the heading of this story was totally inappropriate for what they were reporting on.
I think they just want to spark another Cronulla riot. Good on ya, Today Tonight.

Yes indeed. Anyway, if Today Tonight don’t offer a public apology…the VCA (Vietnamese Community in Australia) would be pretty pissed. My parents heard of it via Vietnamese radio. (And many many parents listen to Vietnamese radio.)

We should have a full show dedicated to the discussion of this issue. We can’t let it go so easily.
